Eye doctor for kids

I know this has been discussed before but the current search function hasn't made it easy to find the past threads.

I'm busy making appointments and I just realized that I've yet to take my son for an eye and vision exam. As he is turning six soon this is LONG overdue. Because of a family history of eye issues I'd prefer an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist. Obviously, I also want a doctor who is good with kids. I'm also looking for a balance between taking eye care seriously but not over treating if something is found.

My son went to Sally Bregman for his last vision exam and she was great.

We were happy with Amy Lambert at Pediatric Eye Associates.

22 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, NJ 07039

(973) 422-1230

For the record, Sally Bregman is great, but she isn't an ophthalmologist.

Sally Bregman was fabulous for our family (when we lived in NJ), but spontaneous specifically wants an ophthalmologist, and Bregman is an optometrist.

We've been VERY happy with Dr. Mayumi Mori at Pediatric Ophthalmology Associates in Westfield (they also have an office in Cedar Knolls). The other doctor in the practice, Jay Bernstein, is also excellent. Their contact info is: 908-317-9811.

My kids all see Amy Lambert, and we are very happy with her.

Dr. Kenneth Miller on Old Short Hills road is an ophthalmologist who sees kids. Very thorough.

another +1 for Sally Bregman!

I may be overthinking the ophthalmologist angle. I have eye issues and my husband does too, but our son so far hasn't acted in any way to make us believe that he does. I just want to get his vision checked and do a yearly exam because it is a good habit, not because I suspect a problem. I guess I could take him to an optometrist and switch if he is ever unlucky enough to develop an issue.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

If you see Dr. Bregman, please tell her I say hello.
