The Elvis Costello musical version of A Face in the Crowd seems to be on track toward actually getting a Broadway slot.  Haven't been this jazzed about the prospect of a Broadway musical since the original production of Sweeney Todd:

Yes, it is absolutely an adaptation of the 1957 film.
