Deafening silence about Lemonade or did I miss it?

Loved it even more because of the video, and bonus points for resurfacing this one.

I saw a piece about it on the NY Times that was pretty interesting.

In another article there is an interesting comment which I don't know if it is true or not, but compelling:
"What she seems be to saying is, “If the price of celebrity is just constant surveillance, the way that I gain some agency or control is to curate it in my own terms. Everyone knows something went down two years ago, but let me tell the story the way I want to tell it – in its full complexity, with the pacing I want to.”

I  have not yet seeing it, but will. So far what I have read indicates that it is good music and great visuals. I appreciate that there may be a very personal story behind it. It may give someone who is in a similar situation a way to cope to see someone else dealing with the pain and betrayal and still being able to overcome it and move on.

Well, that's pretty obviously not true.

I was just curious as to why you would feel compelled to take a few moments out of your life to be so rude?   @mikescott

In the end, Beyonce and Jay Z win because we are talking about it.

I just want to quash the rumor that Becky with the good hair is me. It's not. I've never met Bey and I do not have good hair.

Ridski, don't try to squirm out of it.  One look at your avatar, and it's obvious from your hair that it's you.

Want to watch it again. Love the palette--the way she uses blue and gold. And it got me into a meditative zone and has really stayed on my mind. No false notes and very little self-indulgence. I think she's saying what she means.

They are also showing Laurie Anderson's Heart of a Dog on HBO. Toggling between the 2, Beyonce's artwork holds its own, and she's a young pop star, not a veteran conceptual artist!

I will say that I found myself not paying a lot of attention to the songs. But Lemonade wasn't acting like music video. The songs were just one more color in her palette.

I love this.

Because Beyoncé Owns Her Haters, She’s Selling ‘Boycott Beyoncé’ Tour Merchandise

http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/04/beyonce-is-selling-boycott-beyonc-merch.html

"...Beyoncé: 1 million; haters: zip. Just quit now, people. Beyoncé. Always. Wins."

I thought it was beautiful, smart and lyrically and artistically perfect. Does this chick ever miss? Not sure if what she's singing about truly matches her real life situation, but nevertheless, it's pretty damn amazing.

Stunning. Absolutely loved it. She's a fantastic talent and uses her celebrity to competently elevate conversations about social justice, while using personal tragedies and triumphs to highlight the need for attention to these matters, particularly among Women of Color.

That's what I liked: Knowing little to nothing about her personal situation, I nonetheless thought it was a vivid, powerful statement. (And those Boycott Beyoncé T-shirts are genius.)

Funny how many who loved her now despise her because she is becoming a bit more open politically. She deems herself a feminist, which I call BS on because IMO, you can't be a true feminist yet put up with the affairs of a husband (if lyrics are true - and she's had quite a few lyrics similar to Lemonade). Like most artists, it takes a while for them to find that sweet spot in becoming more vocal on social/political issues. She has paid her dues and is comfortable now in sharing her thoughts on what she sees/hears/experienced. Even if some fall off the Beyonce band wagon, many more will follow. This will not hurt her pocket book or creativity at all.

wait, people despise her now? I hadn't heard about that shift and it's certainly not evident in the attention to her new album.

I guess the Feminist Club just got a lot smaller. Sorry, Hillary!

If she has an affair, can she get back to being a feminist?  It does seem like odd criteria - particularly as no one but her knows what her personal life looks like.

Sung like a true feminist:

'Cause if you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it

If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it

Don't be mad once you see that he want it

Cause if you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
