Dar Williams Stuff

Her gigs in S.O. date back to her July 1996 (free) Arts In The Park concert on Flood's Hill. This'll be her 3rd time through. Can't wait.

BTW: Notice the other discriminating venues/towns where she's also appearing...

and I used to play basketball in Maplewood with her cousin who lived here for a number of years...he once said to me, ever hear of Dar Williams? I said, of course. He said really?....she's my cousin and she's doing a show in Montclair (Outpost in the Burbs) -- let's go. I said, sure.

Her cover of Comfortably Numb is one of the best.

I really like her cover of The Kinks' "Better Things" as well. Not to mention all of her own outstanding songs.

Her songwriting is so unique.  I still find myself listening to, and relating to, songs of hers that I loved in my late-20s (I am, uh, not in my late-20s anymore).  I saw her in NYC right after 9-11 - it was an amazing and incredibly memorable show.  I saw her the last time she came to SOPAC - we are older, but she is still kick-ass and it's great to see a musician you admire so much mature and grow and share that evolution with her audience.  And she's funny as hell too.  If you can make the show, even if you don't know her music, you should.  She's worth it, and kudos to SOPAC for getting her back here.

She actually lives in Cold Spring, NY. My brother-in-law lives up there, and everyone in town knows her--its a small town.

Singer-Songwriter in the Hamptons, Summer 2015...

Fly Williams?

Great seeing Dar once again! Gifted her with a DVD of her first South Orange gig (July,1996 here on Flood's Hill), and she seemed really touched. She told me that her Flood's Hill concert (supporting her first album, "The Honesty Room") was memorable for her as well, and she happily signed the old promo photo of her which I brought with me... A fine evening. Thanks Dar! #;0)

She doesn't mention Flood's Hill, but otherwise, dead on.
