Can gas pressure fluctuate due to surge usage?

I have noticed that sometimes on colder mornings the flames on the gas burners of my range top are not as strong or high as normal. This pneumonia has been even more pronounced with the current frigid temperatures.

Can this be caused because more folks are using natural gas for heating?  This can be the case with water pressure...as when everyone seems to bathe between 6 and 8 in the a.m. before leaving for work or school.

Should I be calling PSEG?

I had the same type of problem 2 years ago.  Turned out to be a PSEG gas main problem.  Have your been seeing the square patches of pavement all over our Maplewood streets?  They are repairing their gas mains piece by piece under our streets (and making our streets very rough in the process).  This is part of our infrarstructure replacement problem.  This is likely your problem.  Call  PSEG.  If you call the township, they may turn off your gas service altogether, as they did to me.  Not what you would want this time of year.

I haven't noticed those patches in our immediate area.  I'm surprised others aren't asking about these fluctuations.  The other day it took forever for my oven to reach the set temperature.  Do you think this could be dangerous?

I don't think it is dangerous.  Is your oven becoming slow to heat all of the tine?  That could be a symptom of a bad igniter.

No.  When this happened the other day I also had exceptionally low flames on the burners.  This chilly a.m. burner flames were also low...but, not as low as I described in the previous sentence.

Did you call PSEG?  Pavement patches are in many areas around town, sounds to me as if you will be  having some soon.

Plan to call next year.
