Blue Plate Special Decor, Tables, knick-knacks ON SALE!

I'm going to be selling the BPS restaurant decorations, tables, coffee mugs, knick-knaks, wind-up toys, Elmo dolls, wine glasses, butter dishes, throwback aprons, curtains, bookshelves, salt and pepper shakers, plates, mirrors, lamps, windup toys, etc and so forth will be on sale this coming weekend Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. There's lots of stuff so there will be more each day.

AND...there will be Biscuits and Jelly, coffee and tea and Crackbread!

Crack bread! We've missed that.

Dan, I need to buy a table ( you know why) , but I wont be here Saturday morning. Can I stop by during the week.

Yes, give me a call 973 763-9619 we can work out a time.

Good thing I already bought my knick-knack straight from Laura after Superstorm Sandy, since I can't come down for this. Wishing you success, Dan... and I think of her every time I use that little flowered teapot/cup.

Oh, I wish we would be here for that! Just today my 5yo was asking if we can go to the "toy restaurant, please". He loves BPS and doesn't forget it. He would love to be able to pick up his favorite Elmo globe toy (and I a mug as a keepsake of our happy first years in SO) oh oh

Then he should have a momento. Call me we can work something out.

My intention is less about raising money and more about people having a momento of the BPS and Laura.

And that is a beautiful idea. It is both a memorial and a way of moving on while keeping her in our hearts. And honestly, I can't tell you how glad I am that I did buy the teapot/mug I mentioned above! It's a lovely keepsake of her and the restaurant.

Dan, got any silverware for sale? Not looking for serving stuff, just plate setting stuff.

Yes, there will be silverware although I intend to concentrate on the decor and such this weekend. More of the restaurant equipment will be on sale in following weekends.

argh, we leave tomorrow for a 6 week long trip. I don't think I can squeeze the time LOL

If there's something left by end of july I can get it!

Same here - only not for 6 weeks - just the 1 plus a few days - but I'll miss the sale.... and more importantly the biscuits and crackbread.

I went by there this morning to get a couple of coffee cups to remind me of the nice times I had in that place including all the chats with Laura.

It was good to see Dan again.

He'll still be there tomorrow (Sunday) selling stuff.

Tons of cool stuff, don't miss it.

Is it cash only?

Suzanne, I think you could call Dan at the number he posted above to find that out. They did used to take credit cards via "The Square" when it was the BPS but I don't know if he is doing so for this event.

Meanwhile, he has some very cool period 50's formica tables in there (with matching chairs) that I wish I had a spot for and hope that other folks give him a good price for them. -Including one of the cute two-person pedestal types that used to be in a pizza parlor once-upon-a-time.

Also, anyone with small kids should definitely stop in as there is a LOT of cute small toy stuff.

Just went for a visit yesterday.

Danny's still there at the Blue Plate (corner of Irvington Ave & Ward Place), still selling off all of their books, toys, games, purses, kitchenware, housewares, lovely furniture (wood, wicker, metal and more), light fixtures, tchotchkes, party supplies, a few pairs of kid's sneakers, etc., you name it! With more stuff being brought to the store from the house every day. Many things Laura had bought but never got around to putting out at the store. Looking for something in particular? Just ask! He's listed some of the items on the SOMA Swap, but there's so much more than that!

He's definitely there Tues-Fri between about 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. and weekends from 9-1 at bare minimum. And he's also happy to be there other times by arrangement. Just give him a call at 518-209-0067 to see if he's at the store other times or to make a date to meet up.

Please go by and get some stuff!

are they selling food? or just knick knacks?

Thanks for the update, Suzie2. I'd been away that first weekend and assumed I'd missed any possibility of a momento/find. Laura and I used to run into each other at Unique and compare finds and laugh at ourselves.

He had crackbread and coffee last time I stopped in and tons of great stuff, great prices too.

@oots Not selling any food (though you occasionally might run into him with some). But not just knick-knacks either by any means. Tons of kitchenware, glassware (e.g. I snagged 6 like-new martini glasses for $5), books, furniture, etc., too.

thanks suzie2
