Biden's wins

Aside from the big ticket items, Biden is doing some significant work in fixing things that have gotten out of hand in the past decades. Two that I noticed this week are:

Restoring funding to the IRS to the tune of 80B over ten years.

Restoring funding to the Superfund program, which has languished for years.

Anything else?

Meanwhile, the DOJ has opened what, 3 investigations into local police departments in the last few weeks?

Don't tell me your vote doesn't matter.

more from the DOJ

finally, a President who knows how to eat.

imagine! Pursuing a policy of rising wages! What a concept!

looks like the XL Pipeline is finally dead and gone. Definite win!

U.S. President Joe Biden will hold a solo news conference after meeting his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin next week, denying the former KGB spy an elevated international platform to castigate the West and sow discord.
...
"A solo press conference is the appropriate format to clearly communicate with the free press the topics that were raised in the meeting — both in terms of areas where we may agree and in areas where we have significant concerns."

That's just the preemptive shush.

Russian media does a 180, no longer follow GOP talking points about Biden.

Russian President Vladimir Putin lavished praise on his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden on Thursday, a day after the two leaders held a summit, saying Biden was incorrectly portrayed in the Russian and U.S. media as being unfocused and vague.
...
Speaking to university graduates by video link later on Thursday, Putin, 68, had only warm words for Biden, 78, in contrast to Russian state media which has sometimes portrayed the U.S. president as struggling to do his job both physically and mentally.

"I want to say that the image of President Biden that our press and even the American press paints has nothing in common with reality," Putin told the graduates.

"He was on a long trip, had flown across the Ocean, and had to contend with jet lag and the time difference. When I fly it takes its toll. But he looked cheerful, we spoke face-to-face for two or maybe more hours. He's completely across his brief," said Putin.

"Biden is a professional, and you have to be very careful in working with him to make sure you don’t miss anything. He doesn’t miss anything, I can assure you."

That would be a fair question if only I had trouble understanding his off-the-tracks train of thought.

You guys are in denial. — In the real world, if you borrow (print) trillions of dollars, you accumulate a whole lot of debt, the assumption is it will be used wisely and ultimately paid back. Aside from the sausage making assumed to be included, and the whole (overinflated tire) possible eruption in sight, this is a grab bag for the unscrupulous. Without bipartisan involvement, Biden and the Dems wind up holding the bag, along with the American taxpayers in a failing economy.

omg - like I always say - please post the FULL video you're referring to.

Haven't really kept up with this thread, but I read something today that reminded me that a lot of the significant stuff that gets done by a Dem President flies under the radar, but is nonetheless important.

https://doctorow.medium.com/a-win-for-harley-riders-eec8025ac96b

This has to do with corporations trying to prevent consumers from repairing their stuff themselves, or from going to a third-party. The corps want repairs done by themselves. The new FTC commissioners are cracking down on this practice.

‘I’m Calling About Your Auto Warranty’: FCC Says No More, Orders Spam Block

Biden has done more for the progress of the country in one month than trumpenstein has done in four years. Yesterday was especially good for Biden. PACT 2022 signed into law…and inflation is down.

Say what you want about Biden, but his two years so far has been one of the most successful and progressive terms, in terms of legislation, since Johnson.

Yet he has a 37% approval  rating.

Brilliant, America. Pissed off about some inflation. (Which, if you figure in wage increases, comes in at about 4% or so. Off the top of my head. Quelle horreur!)

‘I’m Calling About Your Auto Warranty’: FCC Says No More, Orders Spam Block

I was told that my warranty ran out and I needed a maintenance program. I asked for what car? They said we can't tell you because we have to verify its really you, so you have to tell us.

I made up a fictitious car, make model, year. They confirmed, yes, that's the car.

I told them I was interested so they escalated to the number two guy. I hedged and they then escalated to number three who finally offered me their best ever deal of $275 a month, covering everything.

I told them I didn't have any credit cards. Could I mail a check after they send me the contract? No. Because they can't start the service with a check payment. They're not set up for that. They needed a credit or debit card. But I can pay with with check after initial setup.

Such an obvious scam. But enough fall for them.

The funny thing is months later I get another call telling me the warranty on my fictitious car ran out.

My guess is the Afghanistan debacle just won’t be forgotten

Why is DeJoy still Postmaster General?

My understanding is that Biden now has enough votes on the USPS Board of Governors to get rid of him after two new governors were approved earlier this year.

I had read somewhere that the board of governors was supposed to meet in August and hopefully toss him out.
