I get it but no. Rooting for the U.S. Happy for Canada and rest of world to give Trump a bloody nose in other ways and venues.
I do want the U.S. team to stop being such babies about this. Our country doesn't deserve the respect of Canadians at this moment in time.
So stop whining about being booed.
I could live with Canada winning though in the current environment. Kind of a no lose situation. And this is a great tournament. Better than a BS all star game.
Ended up watching the game in a bar in Nashville sitting next to the New York Rangers team doctor. He knew a whole bunch of the players on both teams. Cool stories about these guys. Made them seem very likable.
So which team won?
---Never mind. Canada won. 3 - 2.
Trudeau: "You can't take our country and you can't take our game."
That was one of the best hockey games I have seen in years. The fourth line for each team had all stars. I was rooting for the US, but not in any passionate way, since of course some of the Canadian players play on teams that I like. And after watching my son as a goaltender for 11 years or so I love watching good goaltending. No shortage of that last night.
No beef with Canada winning. Glad we are in an era when U.S. talent is on par with Canadian talent. Great to watch a game with this level of skill and can never argue with a championship game going into OT. Given the kind of off year they having, surprising that the Rangers placed 4 players on the U.S. team.
Well, given the international structure of the competition and the exclusion of Russia i can see some teams having a lot of players in the mix. The devil's had players on multiple teams, and the Capitals had no one because Ovechkin is Russian. But I enjoyed it.
This is coming from someone who couldn't name a current player in the NHL. I just can't stand anything patriotic right now.
