Any Google Search experts out there?

We operate a business out of my home and a warehouse (un-maned so no mail delivery)

I am being told by my web guys that i have a problem for google local search as google search ranking is impacted if the address is residential or if i use a virtual office or UPS store location (google has a position that the only legit business are those with retail storefronts)

How does a services based business get around this?

Thoughts? Guidance?
