Llamas live in Ocean County New Jersey! There is a farm near me which is kind of a Noah’s Ark - a few of many kinds of animals — great place to bring the grandkids. The business is supported by its llama herd who “donate” their soft and lovely wool once a year. As well as by a gift shop with knitted sweaters, souvenirs, etc
There was a llama farm up the road from UCSC when I was there but the cougars kept on eating them.

Still making time with the ladies at 89, wow!
I just have to share this story of a very adventurous red panda named Ravi. I have a feeling it won’t make your news:

I’m quite impressed he not only got out quite soon after he arrived, he managed to locate a gorgeous old garden to hide in and stayed out, unnoticed, for the weekend.
And another tale of miracles among great difficulties: Gaza’s baby lion cubs!
Now THIS made my day! I have no idea how I’d react if something not-domestic crawled through the cat-flap, but it seems this family coped quite well.
Just installed a security camera system. If my camera picks up any seals prowling in my backyard, my cat will run and hide under my bed until it is safe to come out! If I saw a seal in my hallway, I’d join the cat!
If Harry doesn’t see it, it isn’t there!

This is so riveting, it could almost be a human-based tv soap-opera:

@marksierra has referred to these birds a few times over the years. They’re quite tenacious and determined, to keep nesting there in the middle of Melbourne’s central business district.
What a stunning critter! The first one is well over 40 years old, and named Taurus, and the pink one is named Clouseau (of course!)
And now: ancient cicada fossils!!

(Can’t you tell how much I love this stuff?!?)
Now, some folk think that Terry Pratchett holds the main claim to famous Dibblers, being a character in the incredibly captivating Discworld wizardry series.
Not so: dibblers are in fact cute little marsupials found around the western coast of Australia. Feral animals (mainly cats) almost wiped them out, but slowly they’re fighting back!!

Meet Happy the Holstein calf, ‘lawnmower for life’:
A living, breathing emoji!! “Despite being unlikely to join the Coster's roster of stud bulls, Happy has found a new niche for himself.
"He's going to join those bulls and become a bit of a pet," Mrs Coster said.”
Think his dog pack needs a bigger house…
“Robbie Timmers went all-out adding a contemporary-style house on his property in Thailand. White with chic black trim, the two-story, air-conditioned abode has security cameras, smart lighting and a sliding door to the porch.
“Mr. Timmers would have added a swimming pool, too, but his wife objected. Her reasoning? It seemed unnecessary for the home’s intended occupants: the couple’s five dogs.
“The roughly 10-foot-high canine mansion was designed and installed as a relaxing space for the couple’s pups, and sits in the backyard of—and matches—the Timmerses’ own home. “I wanted to have something that looks cool,” says Mr. Timmers. “I love it so much.”
“Pets these days are living more luxurious lives than ever as humans increasingly pour money into making their properties fetching for nonhuman family members.
“The rub: Sometimes the pets don’t dig it.
“I have to be honest, my dogs never set foot in the house,” says Mr. Timmers, who spent about $10,000 on it. “They just didn’t like it.” Nowadays, the mini-house mostly sits empty.
“It has everything,” he adds. “Just no dogs.”
“Moreover, all these swanky, special-made pet amenities inevitably have a shorter shelf life than those for humans.”

Love the grey haired rooster in curlers! My 18+lb cat, who survived life on city streets until he arrived at a shelter, would never tolerate being dressed up by me. It takes two people to get him in his crate!
Aside from that, he is a total love bug, with a serious lack of social skills with strangers. Got him Christmas 2019 and he was the life of the party. Within 3 months the pandemic lockdown began and it changed him. He is just lately making an appearance —however brief — when company calls.
Veterinary care has been difficult, patient and pet owner sitting out in the parking lot at the vet’s office. One of the little pleasures of pet ownership, pre Covid, was sitting in a crowded waiting room with assorted animals and their besotted and worried parents. No chats with vet staff, no ability to comfort the patient, and watching your pet carried into the office by a perfect stranger?

Hey, Mtierney and Morganna! Here’s a wonderful bird for you!! A 46-yr-old albatross that’s fathered at least 11known chicks and travelled across the world:
“BP9 is a male wandering albatross that was banded as a chick in September 1976 at the Crozet archipelago in the southern Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Antarctica.”
Slipping in a request here for recommended pet sitters. Looking for someone who would stay at our house or keeps dogs in their house.
