A/C & Plumbing

We need someone to look at our main floor A/C unit as well as a plumbing issue we've had upstairs that we can't figure out (pipes were snaked, had a sewer back up due to a block and cleared - but issue persists). Any recs for one or 2 separate experts who can help?!

We use Corragio brothers and have been happy every time. May be more expensive than other plumbers in the area, but it's worth it to us.

Do it right and one time. That would mean Right One Plumbing. They advertise here.

These guys are great!

I would not recommend Right One Plumbing.

Their suggested solution for a drip in our shower was to replace our three handle system with a single handle system. The reasoning was the that faulty valve could not be replaced and current code requires a single handle system. This would have required tile work as well as tearing up the wall behind the shower for access.

For a loose faucet they recommended replacing it as mounting nuts are not available as parts.

We called a second plumber who took one look, left for 40 minutes to get parts, and replaced the faulty valve (and the other one for good measure) and the mounting nuts on the faucet.

Can you share the name of the plumber? Thank you !

Sorry, that's not the way it went down at all.

We also offered to look for the parts and do the repair but the customer first wanted to have a quote to do the complete replacement with tile work included.

We provided a quote later that day via email and never heard anymore about it until this.

P.S. While we were there looking at this problem we at also tightened a loose bathroom sink faucet for the customer at no charge for which he thanked us profusely.

That’s not our recollection.

You plumber did not offer to get the parts to fix the drip and loose faucet. In fact he was very clear that:
1. The valve could not be replaced, and
2. Mounting nuts are not available individually, but that we had to purchase a new faucet and he would install it. Yes, he did offer to tighten the **remaining** mounting nut but he stated that it would not hold for long. ( He was correct in this and within days the faucet was loose again.)

At this point our only option seemed to get an estimate for the replacement of the shower. In response to your initial estimate I asked it if would be possible to lower the cost by replacing with a 3 handle system instead of a single handle system as suggested. You replied that "The only 3 handle system available anymore is the Gerber. A very plain unit"

Your plumber was also “nice enough “ to offer an alternative solution to the shower replacement by installing a shut off valve behind the shower using an existing small access panel in the wall so that we would not have to go down to the basement to open/shut off the hot water!?

Does that sound like the conversations someone would have when just getting the parts and installing them would have resolved the drip and loose faucet? Never was just replacing the valve/mounting nuts given to us as an option.

#2 felt so wrong that I even switched to Spanish to make sure that there was no miscommunication with your plumber.

The reason I did not respond to your follow-up estimate was because after getting a 2nd opinion and having my issues resolved in the same visit I was speechless.

Well we are "speechless" and "not our recollection" also. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Any suggestions for a good company to install a new boiler and hot water heater in a 5/4 house?
