Let's see, the shooter will kill himself, politicians will say it is a tragedy, and that we should pray for the victims, the Democrats will call for tougher gun laws, the Republicans will say that guns don't kill people, and nothing will change. And this will happen again in a few months...

Shooter is in custody. Other than that, you've got it right

Don't forget the calls by some politicians for others to not try to exploit the incident for politics.

Don't forget the part about the gun being legally obtained.

Others will say this is not the proper time to discuss gun laws.

And that it wasn't the gun that killed these people. He would have found a machete or a switchblade or something else to use.

If only all the students had guns, then this wouldn't have happened.

Get with reality- after Sandy Hook we learned that NRA baby killers have more rights to own guns than kids do to live a full life.

I can't imagine being the parent of a child killed this way. I'd be at very high risk of bottomless, endless rage.

This just makes me sick.

And once again, any connection to mental health care in this country will be discounted.

I'm still not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm a little confused at that response.

With no info already many comments on news sites are blaming SSRIs

Why? ETA: I'm not implying by any means that there isn't a connection, btw. There obviously is.

That is the awful truth. The loved ones waiting and not knowing. Lives changed forever.

Are you saying that the fact that the majority of these shooters have been troubled young men with a history of mental illness that had gone untreated due to the abysmal lack of services in that area will overshadow the fact that we need better, enforceable gun control?

I edited above in a cross post: "I'm not implying by any means that there isn't a connection, btw. There obviously is."

But yes, that overshadowing is one major concern. Better care early on fixes a very small part of the issue on the back end, but itself presents its own issues with diagnosis, term of applicability, and confidentiality amongst other hurdles. And forgive my cynicism, but I'm sure if it ever got that far would be seen more as an endgame than the single step of many that it is.

And if I have to edit one more damn post to add a period at the end of my last sentence I'll scream.

Reuters is reporting - At least 15 people were
killed and another 20 wounded at a shooting on Thursday at a community
college in Roseburg, Oregon, media reported.

"but libtards are killing babies all the time at Planned Parenthood and totally justify it" is what someone would say that sends me into fits of rage.

As mentioned in another post, it will soon be more dangerous to send your child to college than to have them join the army.

The news is calling this a "mass casualty" incident. What incredible bullsnit!!! It's

MASS MURDER BY GUN

or

MASS SHOOTING

It's important to maintain the focus on the real issue. Any other terms or tangential discussions deflect from the topic.

4 guns. He had access to 4 guns.

One thing that bothers me is that the cops killed him. Why couldn't they use a debilitating shot??? If there really was no alternative OK! but I think this should be addressed.

That's not how police are trained. When they pull out a gun, they use it to kill the perpetrator. It's not a wild west movie where they can aim for a leg and expect a quick surrender.

The NRA is a world-wide terrorist organization. Anyone visiting in or living within our borders is vulnerable because of them.

I would guess there may have been a sniper on hand; he would have been trained to hit a target, such as a lung. The issue is the 'necessity' of deadly force.
