Event Date: September 12th, 2020 at 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Address : Zoom
Town : Maplewood
Information:

On September 12, at 7:30 PM, via Zoom, in observation of Selichot, please join us for an incredibly special and important conversation as we welcome award winning author, Marra B. Gad! This event is co-sponsored by Temple B'nai Abraham of Livingston and Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel of South Orange.

Selichot, literally “forgiveness,” is the service held on the Saturday evening before Rosh Hashanah to help usher us into the themes of the Holy Days. Selichot is a time of reflection and preparation for the Holy Days. As we engage in personal acts of teshuva, tzedakah and tefila, repentance, charity and prayer, we explore the meaning of our lives.

Author Gad's book, The Color of Love: A Story of a Mixed-Race Jewish Girl, has been described as “a story of our moment, ripe with themes of identity, racism, family politics, and more.” Her story is powerful, and hearing her speak about her experiences will surely renew our shared determination to make the new year more peaceful, compassionate, inclusive, and equitable. This evening will be meaningful for all, but particularly so if you prepare in advance by reading the book. The Color of Love (hardcopy and ebook), winner of the 2020 Midwest Book Award for Autobiography/Memoir, can be purchased directly though the publisher at this link: https://www.agatepublishing.com/titles/the-color-of-love or .
