Our September title is the play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.
The play dramatizes the life of Blanche DuBois, a mentally unstable southern belle. After her gay husband commits suicide and she turns to “the kindness of strangers” to make money, Blanche seeks refuge with her pregnant sister and abusive brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans tenement, leading to her complete breakdown.
Streetcar, Williams' most popular play, is considered among the finest plays of the 20th century.
