As part of St. George\'s annual celebration of Black History Month, the Absalom Jones Committee on Black History & Culture will present a forum at noon using the bestselling book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. The book explores how the war on drugs has become a system of racial control comprable to Jim Crow laws and slavery. Warren R. Thompson, Jr., MSW, will join us in what is sure to be a thought-provoking and enlightening discussion. Mr. Thompson serves as Program Director of Community Corrections for Volunteers of America-Northern NJ. Ms. Alexander\'s book has been described Cornel West as \"an instant classic...a grand wake-up call in the midst of a long slumber of indifference to the poor and vulnerable\". We hope you will join us for an informative and lively forum.
