Local Artists Featured in New Exhibit Benefiting Artists with Disabilities The third annual “Friends of Arts Unbound” show at the Arts Unbound Gallery will open on April 3rd and run through May 1st, 2015. Arts Unbound provides visual arts instruction and exhibition opportunities to artists with disabilities and seniors. More than twenty-five regional artists will be supporting these programs through an exhibit and sale of their own work. On April 11th, the public can meet the artists and enjoy refreshments during an opening reception from 5pm to 8pm. The gallery is located in the Valley Arts District at 544 Freeman Street, Orange, N.J. Artists included in the show are Lawrence Berzon, Ronald Freeman, Kathleen Heron, Mike Malbrough, Terry Boddie, and Robert Ramos fromOrange, Kathy Cantwell, Susan Harris, Rick Hauser, Jeremy Moss, and Allan Wood from Maplewood, Steve Langehough, Yvette Lucas, and Gayle Mahoney from Montclair, Lisa Pressman and Joan Goldsmith from West Orange, Dominique Duroseau fromIrvington, Susan Faiola from Florham Park, Dorothy Ganek from South Orange, Micha Hamilton fromSpringfield, Bob O’Brien from Nutley, Armisey Smith and Toni Thomas fromNewark, Danielle Mick from Morristown, Joanne Rafferty from Denville, Jo El Lopez fromPatterson, and Humberto Ramos from South Carolina. Paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and crafts will all be on display and available for sale, including works by jewelry Joan Cummings from Gillette. Affordable stationery, art, and jewelry by Arts Unbound artists are always on sale at the gallery. Arts Unbound is dedicated to the artistic achievement of people living with disabilities and ongoing art enrichment for seniors. They provide visual arts education and professional development to help emerging artists compete in the retail market. By promoting the work of artists with disabilities and seniors, they focus on their art-making rather than any impairments, and by doing so challenge the stigma associated with disability and aging.
